Weather
I am interested in the complexity and metaphoric potential of weather maps and the symbolic systems of meteorology. I am grateful for the mentorship of Meteorologist Uwe Gramann who gave me a glimpse into the dynamic world of his discipline. The works Funnel and Sentences are in the collection Surrey Art Gallery.

The Beaufort Scale was devised by Sir Francis Beaufort in 1805 to describe the wind speed by how the sea looks. At a residency in Newfoundland, the wind seemed to be always at a gale force. I have embroidered the waves, added the km per hour and collected Newfoundlanders’ idioms and sayings to do with wind.
